So last monday I said the “L” word to my parents. I didn’t want to say it too soon…I wanted to be sure how I felt about them. As they were giving me a bath and I was having the time of my life…I realized that my parents are the best. I felt it was the perfect time to tell them. The problem is that now that I have said it, they want me to say it all the time. But I want it to mean something and I am not going to say it just for the sake of saying it…don’t you agree? To get them off my back I decided to say another big word…I finally said my name. As many of you know, my nickname is buj-ju. I have been saying that a lot but on Thursday, I wanted my parents to hear my real name – KHALIN.

I have been working so hard to start sitting up on my own. I have almost perfected my tripod. I have also been rolling like a fiend. There was a time way back when I used to hate tummy time. Now, every time that mom and dad lay me down on my back I roll over on my tummy. I do this even when I am sleeping – this really freaks out mom and dad who keep coming in at night and turning me back over. I am also trying really hard to crawl. Just yesterday I was able to get my knees up a bit while on my tummy. Hopefully within the next few weeks I can master crawling.
This week I also got to meet baby Yash, Diya and Aunty Malini. They are so much fun! Check out our pics…

I can’t believe how time flies – I turned 5 months on Friday. Overall, it was a pretty quiet week. I ate sweet potatoes for the first time – I love that stuff. I also got to meet baby Arpan at brunch on Sunday. I have also almost perfected rolling over from my back to my stomach – I did it once by myself on Saturday but haven’t repeated that again.
Here are some pics from the last few weeks!

I had been noticing that mom and dad had been reading this book on sleep by Ferber. I didn’t think it was necessary – I was sleeping fine as long as they rocked me when I went to sleep and the 10 times I would get up at night. Well last night mom and dad put me down to sleep at 7:40 and then they left. No rocking, no nothing! Man did that make me mad. So I cried at the top of my lungs. In three minutes they came and checked up on me but then they didn’t pick me up and rock me. What was wrong with them. I decided to cry for another 8 minutes and then it was just too much work so I went to sleep on my own. I slept for an hour and forty-five minutes. When I woke up this time I cried a lot harder – I was worried they couldn’t hear me. They came in twice but again they didn’t pick me up. This time it took a total of nine minutes for me to sleep. Then I slept until midnight and needed some rocking to get back to sleep. No luck – I cried for 25 minutes and had to sleep on my own but I did it. I slept until 3:50 and this time mom got me and fed me and then put me right down to sleep. I finally woke up at 6 with a smile on face.

Since we have brought Khalin home he is doing well. Like most newborns he loves to eat and sleep. He is also doing a great job of keeping us up at night.
Many people have also asked us what does Khalin mean. We got the name from Maneka Gandhi’s Book of Hindu Names. Khalin is another name for Shiva. Shiva is one of the principal deities of Hinduism. Khalin is pronounced like Collin.
Here are some more pictures for you all to enjoy…
